Biography

Dr. Yan was born in Nov. of 1966, received his PhD from the Plasma Physics Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences in July of 1999.

Dr. Yan joined TCL Group in 2001. He was vice general manager of TCL multimedia R&D center and director of flat panel display TV R&D center for FPD TV development. Presently, he is the CTO & Senior Vice President of TCL Group and the president of TCL corporate research;

Now he is the convener of expert group for the key project of novel plat panel display of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the commissioner of the Science& Technology Commission of Ministry of Information Industry of China. He is also the director of State Engineering Lab of Digital Home and the executive director of State engineering and technological research Center for Digital home and the president of China 3D Alliance.

Dr. Yan was received the honor of the “Corporation Creative person of China”, ‘The Outstanding Contribution Expert on Chinese TV technology’ and other honorary title of China.

As the principal of the projects, Dr Yan undertook and done 12 state projects. He has 25 Chinese patents, and has published about 20 papers both in China and abroad. He gave oral invited presentations on SID、IDW、Euro-display respectively.

Dr. Yan has devoted himself to the SID service for a long time. He has been a SID member since 2003. He has served SID Beijing Chapter Director since 2013. He is the organizer of ASID’2013 with SEMI on Mar 20-21, 2013, Shanghai, China and ASID 2014, ASID2015in Shanghai. He is also the organizer or co-organizer of many Chinese domestic or international conferences on display. Yan also served to IEC TC110 as a member of IEC/TC110/WG4.
