个人简介

Professor Kwok received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University in 1973, and a PhD degree in Applied Physics from Harvard University in 1978. From 1978 to 1980, he worked at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. From 1980 to 1992, he was with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, State University of New York at Buffalo, where he became a Full Professor in 1985. He joined Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1992 and is currently Director of the Partner State Key Lab on Advanced Displays and Optoelectroncis, and Dr William Mong Chair Professor of Nanotechnology. Professor Kwok was awarded a US Presidential Young Investigator Award in 1984 and the New York State Research Excellence Award in 1991. He is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of Optical Society of America and a Fellow of Society for Information Display. Professor Kwok has over 600 publications and holds 80 patents. He has published several books including one on Photoalignment Technology by Wiley in 2008, one on Liquid Crystal Technologies in 2013 by World Scientific and one on Liquid Crystal Display modelling by Wiley in 2014.

摘要

Fast LCD based on ferroelectric liquid crystal is becoming available. I shall discuss some applications of such fast LCD, including field sequential color display, bistable displays and high pixel density (>2000ppi) VR/AR displays.
